"Palmer Divide is thoughtful, well-executed original bluegrass in a world full of regional cover bands. These guys do it right." Tim Stafford Grammy award winner and founding member of the bluegrass supergroup Blue Highway. "If you’re looking for a great band that plays first class original material, with excellent musicianship all around, look no further! This band is smooth, hot, and tasteful…. you’ll love this band!" Grammy award winning artist, Mike Auldridge With accolades like those from two award winning artists and a song currently in circulation on Prime Cuts of Bluegrass receiving international airplay it's easy to see why Palmer Divide is currently in demand for performances all over the west.

Palmer Divide was created by members from several other successful Front Range bands; Black Rose, Mountain Heritage, Lost Creek, and White Lightning. When the original four members first got together they decided to perform only music they had written; a bold undertaking for a new bluegrass band trying to garner festival work. The four original members (Jody Adams, Mickey Stinnett, Greg Reed, and Jeff Back) were confident in the music they had written and felt if given the chance to perform it others would like it as well. The band is currently the busiest they have been since its inception. Along the way Palmer Divide has had to say goodbye to Jeff as personal commitments didn't allow him the time and flexibility to travel with the band. The band’s first choice to take over bass duties after Jeff’s departure was Dick Carlson, a previous band mate of Mickey and Greg’s in Black Rose, and a renowned bass player from Nebraska's wildly popular western swing band Sour Mash. This brings us to the current personnel that make up Palmer Divide:

Jody Adams - mandolin, fiddle, vocals Jody had tours of duty with the Air Force Academy Band, most recently performing at the Alabama Theatre in Myrtle Beach, SC. His festival and concert work include multiple performances at the Grand Ole Opry, The Nashville Network, and The White House for Presidents Reagan, Bush, and Clinton. Jody, an Oklahoma native, is an accomplished songwriter with several regional, national, and European compositions to his credit. Jody was also voted SPBGMA’s 1975 Mandolin Player of the Year. He is a much sought after studio musician and teacher in Colorado. In the band Jody sings lead, harmony, and plays fiddle and mandolin plus he handles most of the songwriting duties. Mickey Stinnett - dobro, banjo, vocals Mickey is a Virginia native that migrated west during Colorado's blizzard of 1997. He played in various bluegrass bands in the Washington, DC area and won first place in the Pennsylvania's Deer Creek Bluegrass Festivals' Dobro competition while performing there with Flatland Grass. After moving to Colorado he joined ranks with noted Boulder songwriter Benny Galloway and Greg Reed, and played in the Boulder based band The Cletus Brothers. At the same time Mickey held down the guitar duties in the band Lost Creek. Soon after he joined up with Colorado's Black Rose band and performed with them before the itch to return to pure driving bluegrass overcame him. Mickey is also a graphic artist, luthier www.stinnettstringedinstruments.com, and a former free-agent place-kicker with the NFL's New England Patriots. Greg Reed - guitar, mandolin, vocals Greg is an east Tennessee native that grew up playing music. He has a long history of performing with various acoustic bands throughout Tennessee and now in Colorado. Greg was a founding member of the Denver based acoustic group White Lightning, which enjoyed a great deal of success in Colorado throughout the mid 90's. Greg also played guitar and mandolin with both The Cletus Brothers and Black Rose. Greg currently performs acoustic music in a family band with wife Donna and son Dustin. He is now returning to his original passion, playing guitar, mandolin, and singing with Palmer Divide. Greg is also a luthier and a wildlife biologist, having a career in that field for the federal government since graduating college. Dick Carlson - bass Dick hails from the great state of Nebraska where he not only excelled in music but basketball as well. Once you meet him you'll immediately understand why. While living in Nebraska Dick enjoyed a musical stint in the very successful western swing band Sour Mash. He toured the country with that group from 1976 until 1982. After moving to Colorado Dick played bass with the Front Range trio Black Rose who later went on to win the coveted Rockygrass Band competition. Dick brings to Palmer Divide a rock solid foundation to build all our songs on with his doghouse bass.

Palmer Divide is excited about their future and very encouraged from the positive feedback of those that attend their shows and buy their product. "This is the band I have searched for all my life" says Stinnett. "What a treat to perform in a band with musicians of this caliber and to exclusively play music that we have written. It truly is a musician’s dream come true" he adds. After a recent performance, festival promoter and founder of Colorado's long time bluegrass favorites The Bluegrass Patriots, Ken Seaman had this to say, "Palmer Divide is composed of four of the West’s finest musicians. They have their own sound which is based on lots of original material complemented by excellent vocals and strong instrumentation. Individually they are a pleasure to work with and can always be counted on to provide an entertaining and professional stage show. I would highly recommend Palmer Divide for any musical event!" In addition to writing and performing their own music this band also uses it's talents behind the soundboard and computer. They do all of their own recording, mixing, and mastering, as well as doing all of the packaging design, photography, and graphics work. They are truly a unique self contained bluegrass unit and a breath of fresh air in today’s music world.
