| It is easy to see that we have some fantastic photographers here in Colorado! I never get tired of looking at the spectcular pictures! Of course, Colorado provides wondrous landscapes, doesn't it! Enjoy the work of Glenn Randall. What you see, is what he saw. Please visit his website for more. Now, read the photographer's own words: |
| " I think of wilderness landscape photography as the pursuit of visual “peak experiences.” I’m borrowing a term here from humanistic psychologist Abraham Maslow, who studied human potential -- the ultimate heights to which humans can aspire, not the depths to which they can sink. According to Maslow, peak experiences can give “a sense of the sacred glimpsed in and through the particular instance of the momentary, the secular, the worldly.” Maslow’s definition has always struck me as a wonderful metaphor for landscape photography. Visual peak experiences are moments of extraordinary natural beauty, often ephemeral, that I try to put on film in such a way that a viewer of the photograph can share my sense of wonder and joy. The best landscape photographs, I find, are both true to their subject and yet, somehow, larger than their subject because they capture something universal in the particular. They both portray a singular moment in time and create a sense of timeless beauty. Granted, my photographs have rarely, if ever, achieved such lofty heights. Perhaps they never truly will. But it is the pursuit of visual peak experiences, and the arduous struggle to capture them on film, that keeps landscape photography endlessly fascinating for me. |

| Consumers in the digital age are increasingly aware of just how easy it is to “enhance” photographs. Sunset colors a little disappointing? Just shove the saturation slider to the max and voila! A glorious sunset! What’s missing, for the photographer who succumbs to that temptation, is the genuine awe and wonder of witnessing a rare natural event. Images manufactured in this fashion may deceive the purchaser, but the photographer who sells such images is selling a lie. I believe strongly that authenticity still matters. To me, nature photography is like photojournalism, where an image has lasting impact only when it is a truthful record of a significant event. All of my landscape photographs are authentic records of truly memorable experiences. They are not enhanced either in the field or in the digital darkroom. What you see in my prints is what I saw through the lens. I would be happy to show the original transparencies to anyone who would like proof. |

| During my 28-year career, I’ve accumulated over 900 photo credits, including 50 covers, and sold over 10,000 prints. My work has been published by many major calendar companies, including Audubon and Sierra Club, and in dozens of magazines and books. In addition, I was the sole photographer for two books of landscape photographs, Rocky Mountain National Park Impressions and Colorado Wild & Beautiful, both published by Farcountry Press.
