| Garry Appel studied art and photography, among other subjects, at the University of Colorado. He received a bachelor of arts degree in 1974. After a year as a commercial photographer, he abandoned photography as a vocation and instead pursued a career in the law. Garry has been a practicing attorney since 1979, as well as an Adjunct Professor of Law at both the University of Colorado and Denver University for more nearly a decade. |
| In 1999, Garry returned to fine art photography in earnest and has pursued it passionately ever since. His photographic interests have been varied, but generally explore nature and man’s relationship with nature. Until 2006, all of Garry’s photographs were captured on film (mostly large and medium format) and then scanned and digitally printed. Starting midway through the Botanica series, Garry began experimenting with digital image capture instead of film. This portfolio contains a mix of traditional and digital capture. |
| Garry's fine art work has been exhibited at many galleries and other venues throughout the Rocky Mountain Region and is in many private collections. He has won numerous awards, including first place in the prestigious 2004 Rocky Mountain Regional Photography competition. |
