| Colorful-Colorado.com is proud to feature Gabrielle Louise! Listen, look, enjoy, read some reviews and visit her website to learn more! Gabrielle Louise is an emerging artist noted for her poignant lyrics and astonishing vocals. She is a two-time John Lennon Songwriting Contest finalist and winner of the Jack Maher Songwriting Award |
| Gabrielle (and her group) have just released her third record, "Cigarettes for Sentiments" (August 2008.) Their accoustic live shows feature "smart topical songs, rich soaring vocals, and show-stopping, genre-hopping sets." - Spencer Daily Reporter With a Gabrielle Louise Show, variety is the ticket. Don’t be surprised to catch a tango performance by dancers who frequent her shows or an exhibit by a local artist or photographer. Gabrielle Louise's songs are anchored in folk and roots, while her melody and delivery show strong pop sensibilities. Her sound has the earthy feel of early Joni Mitchell while also capturing the emotion and musical creativity of fellow genre-hopping artist Martin Sexton. Gabrielle is at one moment folkie and ethereal, the next moment a smoky jazz chanteuse. |
| Gabrielle Louise is a performer, who like many other socially-conscious musicians, has made a commitment towards peace and the environment through music. Gabrielle has released a new single, "Save the Arkansas" that seeks to bring awareness to a dire environmental situation that is threatening the health and safety of the Arkansas River Watershed. She was also recently asked by the Willie Nelson Peace Institute to cover Nelson's "Peaceful Solution." Recently, Gabrielle is involved in alternative fueling. Her summer tour used a "Veggie Van," using restaurant grease to fuel the tour van! Originally from Colorado, Gabrielle has also made her home in Boston-where she studied at the Berklee College of Music. She currently resides in Denver, CO |

| Here are some reviews: "Gabrielle Louise is a deceiving package. Though young and beautiful, the guitarplaying singer/songwriter sounds like an older woman. Her pop/country blend is distinctly adult-contemporary in flavor and boasts mature lyrics. Lovers of folk music will appreciate Louise's strong voice, which she uses with equal success on stunning high notes and rumbling lows." The Gazette, (Colorado Springs, CO) "Gabrielle has always been a favorite at Acoustic Music Revival, seeing her perform has been like watching the unfolding of an up and coming major star, not unlike being there when Joni Mitchell was an unknown and one could see her perform at small cafes and concert venues." Acoustic Music Revival, (Denver, CO) "...Her beautiful voice carrying a message of peace could be mistaken for a visit from a member of an angelic choir. But there is more to Gabrielle Louise than her musicianship and talent. [She is] a staunch advocate of environmental responsibility...I find encouragement in a commitment like this." | STRINGS & WOOD PRESENTS THE GABRIELLE LOUISE SHOW AND IAN COOKE AT THE ORIENTAL THEATRE JUNE 28TH Strings & Wood presents a multi-media evening with Americana Singer/Songwriters Gabrielle Louise and Ian Cooke at The Oriental Theater, located at 4335 West 44th Ave. in the Denver Highlands. The show will kick off with an art reception at 6:00pm, showcasing Fort Collins' painter Sheila Dunn and Fort Collins' photographer Darren Mahuron. Music will begin at 7:00pm and will feature a live tango performance. Tickets to this music, art, and dance event are $10.00 and can be obtained at the door, or by visiting www.gabriellelouise.org/oriental-theater. html The artwork is on display for the entire month of June. What's interesting about the pieces on display is that there is a synesthetic interweaving of sound and movement. The dancers and musicians on the stage are reflected in both the exhibited photography and the paintings. Gabrielle Louise, a Denver based singer/songwriter, will present her original music ranging from smoky jazz to old time folk. The daughter of two gypsy musicians, Gabrielle inherited the genetic predisposition to wanderlust and song. Her set will incorporate live tango dancing by local teachers Ariel Cado and Dave Jones. Gabrielle's songs are performed alongside David Rynhart, who adds rich vocal harmonies and exciting instrumental grooves. Both multi- instrumentalists and songwriters, Gabrielle Louise and David Rynhart toggle between genres and instruments to craft an eclectic show. The storytellers color their songs with two guitars, a mandolin, a traditional Irish flute, a peppy ukulele and one sultry piano. For this exciting evening, Gene Libbea (of the Nashville Bluegrass Band) will add the upright bass. Denver cellist Ian Cooke will kick off the musical portion of the evening with "Forlorn Folk." This lanky pushover makes art for your ears using his cello and voice as core instruments for songwriting. Components of his style are pulled from classical music and pop, to world music and jazz. Self-released debut record "The Fall I Fell" was voted best recording 2008 by the Denver Westword. Cooke’s record also employs piano and percussion. In a live setting, he accompanies himself using a loop pedal to layer his cello. Said Joe Sampson of the Denver Westword: "Slowly but surely, Ian Cooke has become one of the most vital artists in this region...with his honeydew voice and looped cello, he made songs that seemed to come out of the ground organically and fill the room with pure sound."
