Beautiful; colorful; interesting; and exciting: Those are the words I find to describe the work of Tracy and Sushe Felix! The following is from their website: The Felix’s are Denver based artists. Sushe is both a painter and sculptor. Her work is abstract and is based on the movements of nature and the landscape. The Modernist painters from the 1930’s and 40’s and the transcendental painters from Santa Fe NM influence her. Tracy’s work consists of stylized landscapes of Colorado and the West. The Hudson River School painters and the American Regionalists influence him. |

| Tracy Felix Artist Statement The landscape has been a favorite subject in art for thousands of years. Many artists have tried to capture the emotion they feel from nature and I, too, am exploring this long tradition with my paintings. I feel very much a part of nature and live in awe of it. I was born near the Sangre de Cristos mountains in the San Luis Valley, Colorado and grew up under the looming summit of Pikes Peak in Colorado Springs. My whole life has been spent hiking and skiing in the mountains that I feel so much a part of. My paintings are all about expressing my love for the Western landscape. The mountain peaks, wild cloud forms, the expansive sky and incredible geology is all the ingredients I use to create a painting. I want the viewer to draw his or her own perceptions about my work from the paintings themselves. Everyone sees and feels something different in them, just as in nature. |

| Sushe Felix Artist Statement My work involves a combination of my ongoing interest in the American Abstract painters from the 1930’s and 40’s, most specifically the Transcendental Painting Group in Santa Fe, and my enjoyment in creating brilliant and rich areas of layered color using paint, collage and other various mediums. Although the work is very abstract, I think of it as being symbolic of the natural world. In each piece I strive to create an orderly composition of both geometric and organic form. I work in acrylic and like to add different types of texture and various hand painted papers and foils to selected areas to attract light and add visual interest. Movement is achieved by repeating forms, shapes, and differing directions of line. In essence, I am striving to find new and different ways in which to depict the natural rhythms of life and nature. Ultimately each painting becomes a unique experience to create and an expression which I feel is not only beautiful, but something which also allows for an intelligent communication with the viewer. |
