From Davis' book, "In and Around The Lakes - Landscapes of Northern Colorado

"What a gift and a challenge to be able to experience all these natural details, to explore
endless nooks and crannies of physical environments. The abundance of public land in a
relatively small area of Colorado, defined by the Cache la Poudre watershed, the Wyoming
state line and the Laramie River Valley, affords the willing observer a virtual playground of
opportunity to learn, appreciate and vernerate. Adrian Davis's photographic images
stunningly illuminate what we see and want to remember as well as what we might have
overlooked. They make us want to see more, but they also compel us to stop, to think and
feel. Each of us has an established memory bank of knowledge and the scenes Davis mirors
back to us spark all our stored sensory awareness. What our eye conveys to the brain is also
the feel of rarified mountain air, the quiet of melancholy or the excitement of vibrant life, the
heady aroma of juniper, or the sounds of crashing water and familiar birdsong. Hold these
pictures in your heart and your mind, and like a rich stew, add your own ingredients."

Adrian Davis:
I moved to Red Feather Lakes, Colorado in 1998 and have been drawn to its landscape since.
This remote part of Northern Colorado is both wild and peaceful in character. Mountain lakes
and streams are plentiful as are colors, hues and textures. Forest hillsides are often chaotic
with a variety of shapes and patterns. Lichen-covered granite boulders hug the edge of
ponderosa pine forests. Beyond a small clearing lies an aspen grove. The leaves are green,
orange, yellow and red. I focus and prepare myself, as I often say, to organize chaos. A deep
breath yeilds the fragrant tone of autumn winds. An aspen leaf has reached the ground.
Others will soon follow. An image captured on film and in the mind has resulted. I'm pleased
to be sharing these images with you. I hope they can bring order to our often chaotic world.
All images were taken with large and medium format cameras using Kodak and Fuji
transparency films.
